It's so rare to see a news article that actually points out the offensiveness of sexist language that I wanted to bring attention to this one, especially in light of the latest installment of Melissa McEwan's sexism watch, wherein the NY Times described a potential Clinton-Palin showdown as a "cat-fight." Notice how this AP reporter discussed the same quote from Clinton spokesperson Howard Wolfson.
Now commenting from the sidelines, Wolfson said each day the Democrats focus on Palin is a day they are not driving home the message that McCain just represents four more years of President Bush.Emphasis mine. I don't think I've ever seen anything of the type before, but I'd like to see it a bit more often.
He warned against giving in to "an obsession in our popular culture with the 'cat fight,' an offensive term that describes the spectacle of two well-known women fighting with one another."
