Pop Goes the Essay
I know that some of you regular Incerttabaintoslotbs out there are into pop culture, and that some of you are also interested in creative nonfiction. So I thought I'd pass along this message from Barrelhouse, announcing a contest for personal essays that deal in some way, shape, or form with pop culture. It just might be time to dust off that meditation on Kirk Cameron's spirituality, that piece about the subtle innuendo of the Junkyard Dog's song "Grab Them Cakes" from The Wrestling Album , or those reflections on Bruno, and what his return did for popular music.
Click on the link above for all the relevant details, but keep in mind that the contest deadline is October 31st. So now you have two tasks to complete before Halloween-- finish assembling your Gabe Kaplan costume, and get that essay sent out.
