Now you folks know that I love me some televangelist scandal stories, so when I saw this headline, I started rubbing my hands together like a seven-year old about to be handed a cupcake. "Mega-preacher's wife sued over loss of faith." How can you not love that? What happened? Was this related to Oral Roberts University or Ted Haggard?

Alas no. It's just an air-rage incident:

Opening arguments were set for Thursday in a lawsuit that accuses Victoria Osteen of assaulting Continental Airlines flight attendant Sharon Brown before the start of a 2005 flight from Houston to Vail, Colorado.
So where does the faith bit come in?
According to court documents, Brown says that she suffers from anxiety and hemorrhoids because of the incident involving Victoria Osteen and said her faith was affected. She is also suing Victoria Osteen for medical expenses for counseling.
Ah--preacher's wife apparently acts like a jerk and elbows you and you lose your faith. Now I'm not excusing Osteen here; if the FAA report is to be believed, then she acted like any number of spoiled rich people who act like Veruca Salt when she doesn't get an Oompa-Loompa. But if your faith was affected because a televangelist treated you like crap, then you've got bigger issues to deal with. I mean, they're televangelists preaching the gospel of prosperity, one of the most heinous misinterpretations of Jesus Christ ever--how do you expect them to treat you?
