Let's say you have a student who's been caught cheating on assignments regularly for the last 7 years, and who has continually used deception and goalpost-moving to justify failures on assignments. Would you trust said student if he or she suddenly handed in a group project and said "It's awesome. Give me an A"? Me neither.
