For years now, I've felt that the Hummer as a consumer brand represents the worst of American culture--conspicuous consumption, a sense of entitlement, environmental callousness; it's a big middle finger to the rest of the world. I actually get angry when I see a stretch limo version, as I often do down here in south Florida. So while I feel for the auto workers who will lose their jobs over this, I felt a bit of happiness when I read this morning, via Atrios, these words from the following article:

The Hummer brand might be discontinued.
Sweet, sweet nectar.
