Okay, it's a bit early for the foodies to have an orgasm over this, but according to NASA, Martian soil appeared to contain the necessary nutrients to sustain life. According to Sam Kounaves, the lead investigator for the wet chemistry laboratory on Phoenix:
"It is the type of soil you would probably have in your back yard, you know, alkaline. You might be able to grow asparagus in it really well. ... It is very exciting for us."Which leaves the obvious question--which Iron Chef will be the first to use Martian asparagus in Kitchen Stadium?
