In case you'd forgotten about him
Florida State Rep. Bob Allen, best known as the I'd rather be a racist than a homo guy from Titusville, is back in the news.
TITUSVILLE - State Rep. Bob Allen on Thursday denied allegations that he tried to use his legislative position to avoid prosecution on a charge of soliciting sex from an undercover police officer.
Allen, R-Merritt Island, said a comment had been taken out of context and that he had made a conscious "effort to not be arrogant about my position" when he was arrested July 11 outside a park bathroom.
The seven-year lawmaker unexpectedly came from Tallahassee, where he was attending the special session, to testify during a pretrial hearing in his criminal case in Titusville. He has denied any wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty to one count of soliciting prostitution.
I hope the judge leaves it in. After all, it's the sort of thing we've come to expect from politicians who get caught doing this sort of thing.
