A Good Start
Let's give credit where credit is due: According to a Wall Street Journal report, the Giuliani campaign is returning checks for $9.11 and $911, apparently refusing to capitalize on the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks. Good for them, I say-- as I mentioned before, these efforts were in extremely poor taste, and it's nice to see the campaign taking a principled stand. Now, if only we could convince him to stop capitalizing on tragedy when he makes speeches, shows up at debates, and goes on talk shows. I mean, showing up for work on September 11th isn't all that Giuliani's done, surely. He hosted a pretty decent episode of Saturday Night Live in the 90s, where he boxed Will Ferrell's Janet Reno. Remember that? That was a good moment for Giuliani. He's a big hit with the ladies-- he's had something like 413 wives. I think that shows his commitment to women's issues. Oh, and he got rid of the comb-over-- that shows good sense and a leader's ability to make tough decisions. I think these are issues worth keeping in mind as we go to the polls on Election Day, November 3, 2009.*
*Note: For the 2008 elections, everyone should still vote for intelligent progressive candidates for everything. But by the time 2009 rolls around (and we've started to undo the damage that's been done these past seven years), we might be able to safely judge candidates by their hairstyles again.
